Ge2, the Revenga Group company specialized in the study and implementation of cutting-edge renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies took part in the twenty-eighth edition of the Iberian Zoo and Aquarium Association Congress which was held at the Donostia Aquarium on February 25-26, 2016.
This event brought together hundreds and Spanish and Portuguese experts from the zoological sector, who dealt with different topics related to conservation, education, animal well-being and the communications of the zoological institutions of both Spain and Portugal.
During this Congress, Ge2 had the opportunity to give its presentation on the project it had recently completed for the Rehabilitation and Energy Optimization of the Aquarium of Madrid for its 20th anniversary.
In the aforementioned project, one of the Madrid Zoo Aquarium priorities was, as usual, that of faithfully recreating the natural habitat of each one of the living beings inhabiting its facilities (a total of 2,300 animals of 300 different species), entailing a thorough temperature control. To achieve this objective, Ge2 modernized the climatizing facilities, thus having managed to make them more reliable and reduce their energy consumption.
Ge2 also installed new equipment and a revamped Scada control for the purpose of optimizing the energy consumption of the aquarium, controlling the temperature and humidity of the environment in both the technical and public areas and adjusting the main parameters of the tanks of the different species on display. At the same time, the improvements made have also contributed to reducing the humidity and salinity of the atmosphere caused by the fish tanks and the tanks.
The presentation given aroused a great deal of interest among the companies in attendance, given that Ge2 was able to provide proof as to a major return on this type of projects not solely thanks to the energy savings achieved, but also due to the impact which these improvements have for the public as well as for the professionals working at this facility.
