The US Office for Patents and Brands (USPTO) has  approved a patent presented by Apple on Tuesday in relation to a technology that is capable of  charging the battery of a MacBook with photovoltaic cells.

It includes a new process made up of photovoltaic panels with a double sided electrochromic glass or 'smartglass'. This photovoltaic covering will be able to add an extra charge using solar energy to Apple 'notebooks' as well. The main benefit of this is that MacBooks will thus obtain a double source of autonomy while being environmentally conscious.

In addition, if Apple continues with this technology development it may one day be able to supply MacBooks fully charged with solar energy.
